Just picked up some Cobra brakes for my GT

Is there any advantage to me swapping my rears? I know the calipers are both single, but are the Cobra rear rotors any bigger?

The calipers are the same....... The differance is the Cobra rear rotors are I think 11.65" and they are vented rotors. Best thing to do is get this kit here:

The downside, you have to yank your axles to swap them out

bah, I'll just leave em. They don't do much anyway.

let us know how much ur braking improves...ive been thinking about it. Ford realy cheaped out on the GT's brakes (and suspension, and power, and chasis....lol)

The big thing about the rears is, if you do Road Races, you will not boil your fluid anywhere near as quick. the solid rotors on the rear of our stangs SUCK!!!!

If you take your car to open track events, yes. I'd save it for when you pull apart your rear end though. You need to pull the axles to install the brackets.

Just get a pair of powerslots for the back that is what I did. I have Baers in the front and stock calipers with hawk pads and powerslots in the back...Oh and the back calipers are a PITA to deal with! save some headaches and let a brake shop put the rears on! The fronts are cake. If you do the rears go to a NAPA and get the right tool. Autozone ond Advance Auto don't have the right tool...at least not around here??

I've got the bullit brakes on my 97 and I love them. They stop like non other. If your looking for a cheap easy upgrade go to the PBR calipers on the 99+ cars.

Pads, and I suggest going to ford and getting some of there 550 degree dot3 brake fluid, about 4 bottles

Since you have a 96, I think you'll need the caliper hardware kit - http://www.gefracing.com/Merchant2/...=G&Product_Code=M2321A&Category_Code=46BRAKES

and hoses -
either SS lines or Rubber.



When hotstang says 4 bottles, he means the little ones. One big bottle should do ya. When he says you need high temp fluild, he means stuff with a high boiling point.

He's suggesting Ford HD fluid, which is good stuff. Brake fluid has a shelf life, so if the bottles look old, get some Valvoline stuff at Autozone or head over ot the local race store and pick up some fluid.
