I was sitting at a light driving on my way home, when a yellow srt-4 with a black carbon fiber hood pulled up next to me . I turned to my wife and said thoes cars are pretty fast. as the light changed we both made a left hand turn and as soon as we were both straight we mashed the gas. We were rolling at about 20-25 mph when we took off. I pulled about a car lenght ahead of him and stayed there untill I hit 90 mph. I backed off due to trafic comming up rather fast. As I backed off he passed me and I heard a loud blowoff valve relase a charge of air. I got next to him and I asked him how much boost he was running he told me not much just 10psi (yeah right). Well we mannaged to get some more open road and a break in the trafic, so we lined up and punched it again I pulled imedatly on him and stayed there again but this time we went all the way up to 100mph and then backed off. All in all I thought that the srt-4 was a 13 sec car and that it would have taken me not vice versa. I mannaged to pull on him and keep a good distance on him even with a passenger (he had no one in the car). Is this a common occurance or was I just lucky?

I'd say you were lucky that you didn't kill some innocent bystanders. Further, I'd say please don't breed.

GEEZ MAN:

Well i haven't got a chace to race one yet. I kind of want to but i haven't caught one around here yet. I am not gonna lecture you about racing on the road, as i have done it before

good run i guess, he may have been telling you the truth about the 10#'s of boost. I have seen video of one almost keeping up with the 03 cobra with a few mods

I saw one at the track yesterday. The air was nice and cool and the wind was blowing from the rear. I wish I had my car there because I'm sure I would have pulled off my best ET to date.
Anyway this SRT never broke the 14's. To the best of my recollection the best ET this thing ran was a low 14 (14.2 ish). Traction wasn't great.

There was also an 03 Cobra with a K&N and catback. He made 2 runs in the 12.85 range, but the rest were low 13's. He also had street tires on( Eagle F1's).

you were definitely lucky. ive been beaten by srts at the track when im running without the juice, very surprised that your lightly modified gt could take them on the street.

Believe me them srt-4's arent that fast.My friend has a stock 02 gt five speed, and he raced a guy with a 03 srt and this guy has the mopar stage 2 upgrade turbo kit and blow off valve and exhaust, he claimed this thing made 260 horses to the wheels , which i dont believe now.Now i know this guy and he can drive fairly good but is just one of those morons that try to make the ECONOMY four cylinders run with the big boys, but neways my friend pulled him by 1 car length at start then kept on pulling him and by 90 was ahead by about 3.5 car lengthes. I mean i could see if the gt pulled him off the line ands didnt gain nemore , but my friends gt kept on pulling on him, oh by the way he weighs 300 pounds and had me and another person in the car and the 160 pound guy driving the srt-4 still couldnt beat us some of u may not believ me but i was there and it happened low-end power hahah the srt doesnt have it

a stock srt can run 14 flat. that is pretty damn good if you ask me. if the driver wasnt total crap he should have been able to go to toe to toe with a new edge GT while totally stock.

dude, i think they make somewhere near 230 hp at the wheels stock. so 260 is believable.
