This is becoming a pita.
The 1980 gas tank on my 82 finally died. Replaced it with a Spectra replacement for an 82.
Wow, the 82 tank (15 gal) is a lot bigger, ie, wider, than the 80 tank (13) gal. Seems to fit the straps, though.
The filler necks are different diameter tube, the 80 is 2.2 in, the later is about 2.0 in.
A 93 filler neck seems to fit the 82 tank and gasket. The 82 filler is at my wifes house....
Anyone know for sure when the tanks changed?
And when the gas gage sender units change the ohm range? I was going to mod or bend the 80 sender to work in the new tank if the lock ring fits.
Or should I just get an 82 sender.
Can someone confirm that the tank needs a vented cap?
