When my son went over the curb last month, it bent my K-member.

I have an aftermarket k-member from AJE.

sigh

My mechanic says a shop that has a frame straightening machine may be able to do something with it.

Ouch. Sounds like the lesson to take from this is: never let anyone drive your Mustang that does not already own one or a similar performance car.

Have you considered making your son pay for the repairs? Use this as a learning experience rather than just a punishment.

OUCH, Sorry to hear that man...

How/where did it bend? I hope it didn't get the whole motor out of place...

I would say to only bend it back if you plan to also have it reinforced as where it bend and will be bent back will be weaker than the rest of the k-member... SO I would bend back and reinforce OR jsut replace it with a new one...

thanks guys. adam, thanks alot for the offer. the thing i worry about with going to a different k-member is that it might move the motor such that the exhaust will no longer fit or the hood won't close or something like that.

if they can straighten it, i'll live with it, but i'll ask if there is a way to reinforce it. i probably won't be taking it over there till next week sometime

i can't really blame my son for this even though he was driving the car. with me being out of comission from my accident and unable to drive, my camry totalled, and his car on the fritz, we didn't have a choice but to let him take the mustang. it had those summer tires that are terrible in the cold, and it was 15 degrees out. so it was like the stars were lined up for this to happen.

and he doesn't have a job so he has no money to help pay for it anyway.
