K-Member options?

I am wanting to know if there are any K-Members that I can use my stock control arms on. I don't want to get coilovers right now but would like a good quality K-Member for my everyday driver. I was wanting the Maximum Motorsports one but I can't use my stock control arms. Thanks for the help.

honestly im not sure i run the mm k-member. if i were you i would wait and save up till you could get the whole mm k-member kit. you will be glad you did.

QA1 is what I use but mine is pretty much a weekend car. Whatever you decide just make sure you take measurements (use a plumbob) before removing the stocker for proper alignment. Don't end up like me with a lop-sided motor or offset wheel and have to go back and redo it all over again.

ya see i drive mine everyday over bumps and everything and it holds up great and greatly increases the handling and responsiveness. i couldn't have been happier with my decision to get the mm k-member kit

I drive mine daily, the UPR kit is a great deal quality and price. The MM and some other pieces ARE nicer, but I'm not convinced that they are so much nicer for the price difference (granted the MM piece is a completely different design than almost everything else on the market)

just the way they do theirs. u can have 2 different caster setups depending on what type of control arms you get if you get the the stock caster setup style then it moves the control arms up about 3/4 of an in. the ones for improved caster move them forward about an 1 1/2. and we all know how much mustangs love caster. and just other stuff they include in the whole kit. and u can choose between urethane or pure delrin bushings for the control arms. they have 2 different styles of adjustable tie rod ends (bumpsteer). you have i think 3 different choices for rack bushings. urethane, aluminum, and adjustable aluminum. and there are prolly more things that i am forgetting. and you have to run coil overs too. because the control arms dont have the spring perches. i love mine. o and you can get it set up for a modular or 5.0 pushrod.

QA1 and UPR are pretty much the same design and good for weight savings. The MM design is superior in terms of design, strength and fittment however it's heavier than the QA1 and UPR. It is designed more for street use although many of us using UPR or QA1 have no problems.

With the QA1 I had to grind the head on two bolts due to clearance issues but it was no big deal.

It was one of the best mods i've done to date. For no better reason than I'm able to easily access my starter, oil pan and lt headers not to mention the weight loss up front.

o ya same here. and even with the mm k-member being heavier it still drops around like 45 lbs off the front with the whole kit.

another thing i would do to your ride also is get a set of full length subframe connectors they work wonders at improving chassis rigidity. and their cheap. i would get weld on too. none of the bolt on s##t.

I've also been looking at the qa1 kit as it isn't very expensive at all. My car will be a daily driver and I would hate for it not to be able to hold up.

The AJE setup let's you use your stock control arms. They also have spring perches you can buy for a little extra so that you don't have to switch to coilovers. A friend of mine has one in his ride and is very happy with it.

I'm glad you brought up the AJE unit. There is one for sale locally that I called dibs on. I will be buying the spring perches($44 from AJE) to make it work. It hasn't been used and the price is right.

I also ordered my long tubes and rods today--money well spent hopefully

Good deal. One thing to note though. My buddy bolted the spring perches on. Then once everything was where it needed to be he put some welds on it to give it more strength. Might be something you want to do.

ya all it comes down to is personal preference as u can see. u can just take our advice on what we have run on our vehicles and run with it.

Not to jack the thread, but don't some insurance companies deny coverage if your car gets into an accident and they find out you have a tubular K member? Just something for everyone to consider
