Last night i picked up a MAF adapter from pro-m (great guys BTW) so i could turn my Former MAC CAI into a densecharger-ish intake. The only thing is, the K & N i had on my MAC CAI was to small for the adapter. Instead of clamping the filter on the adapter like any normal person would do, i decided to be risky and STUFF the filter inside of the adapter. I live in S. of Detroit and work in Ann Arbor (45 miles west). I was paranoid the whole way to work due to the GREAT MICHIGAN RDS. When i got to work, i propped my hood and the filter had slid right off...COMPLETELY OFF OF THE INTAKE. besides buying a bigger K & N and replacing the filter, is there anything I can do to make sure i didn't hurt my engine?!?!?!

Your engine is fine. I've been running a open maf meter with no filter for the past week. Put one on yesterday though. With the maf adapter you should be able to just clamp the k&n to it and tighten it down.

LOL Yeah, don't sweat it man. As long as you weren't driving directly behind a gravel hauler, everything should be fine (I wouldn't make it a habit to run un-filtered though ). Hopefully you got the new filter on during your lunch break.

I grew up in Southgate. Now live in North Carolina.

Isn't it bad to run with no filter more for the smaller particals that get in the intake? Not so much for the gravel and larger items?
