i went from paper 2.5" 14" round filter to K&N 3" 14" round with xtreme top and OMG, hesitation gone, I accidentally spin my tires where they did not before, all I can say is my poor car must have been starving because it is night and day difference in power and response.

will I get a power ad like this adding headers?

I'd be surprised if you see more than a 5hp difference using the K&N over a stock CLEAN paper filter. You can expect a 10% or greater increase with headers and free flowing exhaust. Just don't go to big on the exhaust diameter or you will give up low end torque.

In the most recent Hot Rod there was a K&N test, using different K&N set-ups. This was on a big block chev making over 500hp. After the test they threw on a 9 inch chrome with paper filter, and it knocked over 35hp off the charts.

K&Ns can really help.

It's also in the newest Car Craft. Made me think about what filter I'm going to use next time. I wonder how the Edelbrock Pro-Flow would stack up?

I heard somewhere that it was good for 1000 cfm

thats what edelbrock says its rated for...
but i havent seen them use it too much and i hear bad things about foam flow

having said that - i have the thing and i like the way it looks
well, after a while i wanted to see how well it flowed... the foam on it is like 2" thick and i took an air compressor to it and it didnt let very much air through so i replaced the filter with a filter for a house (3 different layer with one layer being foam)
i put some k&n oil on it and used it until just recently when it wouldnt fit my new demon
its real thin and flows well, but probably doenst protect well - it says good to 8 microns
i figured if its good enough for the air i breathe...
