How does someone get past the PATS system to steal you guys' Mustangs? I thought these cars won't even start without the key with the computer chip. I know mine doesn't because I had to get one of my original keys and a fob recoded at the dealer right after I bought my car because the key would turn the ignition but would not start.

Tru dat! I want to know how these people are stealing cars equipped with PATS. I just read on a different forum about a white turbo '03 Cobra that was just stolen last night in Florida. I mean it must take a little time to bypass or disable PATS does it not? Or did the thief have a key....

U.M.

P.S. Care to divulge what you paid for your 'vert? I'm seriously thinking again about selling my '03 for a GT500.

unless you don't care about open top driving and you like to drag race. Thats why I would never buy a vert.. But I can see why some people love them

If your car has a remote start then it's wicked easy since the remote start installers pretty much bypass it so the remote start will work.

Just out of curiosity.... who would install a remote start on a Mustang and why? I could understand installing a remote start on your car if you lived in a very cold climate and used your vehicle in the winter. What other reason is there for a remote starter?

What is up with all these Mustangs getting stolen in south Florida??? I'm aware quite a few 03 Cobras have already been stolen but noticed the thread starter is from Florida as well.

Keep that drivetrain, spend the 15k on a Factory Five Cobra kit....and you got yourself a sweet roadster!

Seriously tho, if you have any trouble parting it, I'm sure you could find some buyers over at Factory Five.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I'm gradually getting happier with the cobra. It's got all the potential my GT didn't. I'm excited about the future.

I'll be posting the part out soon. I get the car back thursday so everything is gonna go.. besides the shift knob.

I didn't know about the pony grill in the terminator. Interesting read.

Sorry to hear about the stang. You did move to bigger and better things but it sucks to loose your first baby.

and about the cobra owners, I was talkin to this guy at a car show and I asked about how the install on his KB 2.2 was. He was telling me it was easy and what not but then he said, "it was worth it, now it is a 6.8L" beast!" I thought "..the hell?". The guy added the 4.6L + the 2.2L from the KB.

And to not to seem like a vulture, but does it have the IUP head rests? if so can i get first dibs?

why would u only get 500 dollars back from insurance?....typical bad guy doesnt get hurts and runs away without a scratch....next no way a 400 hp gt can even come close to the performance of a cobra and thier potentiol........next that black vert is freaking hot......I like my coupe but verts are awsome to cruise around in....I have been consdering a ls1 as a daily because i think t-tops would be awsome......

400hp definitely isn't enough. With all my bolt-ons and the KB 1.7L putting down 428rwhp, I was still getting walked by LS1s on spray. That was very discouraging and somewhat embarrassing to say the least.

Your car was always my inspiration, and it's still only getting better. I love it. I relate to the feeling you have about all the time and money you put into your gt and a guy with a 600 nitro kit blows you out of the water. You still get the style points to pull out a win, no worries.

I have to lower the cobra and I havent even had time to investigate on how the IRS works! Gah. And on top of that, it's a vert so I don't know how that effects springs and rates and stuff. haha.

Anyway.. I got the car back and the tow place really messed up the rear bumper from moving it around and stuff. That upset me a little.. but I got over it. Everything else seemed to be in perfect condition. It even drives! haha.
