KB owners...

Okay, I am going to start my KB 9psi kit install this weekend and I have a few questions before I start...

1. What is the oil in the bottle that KB supplies? Is that the supercharger oil or is that lube oil? It doesn't say anywhere.

2. If that oil is not the supercharger oil....what type of oil should I get. I thought I read somewhere to use 50 weight synthetic.

3. I have a Windsor block...anybody know if I will need to grind part of my block or not?

4. Any advice on things to look out for??

1. That is the s/c oil.
2. They use Redline 50w Synthetic
3. I have a windsor and I didn't have to grind mine down. I think they recast the manifold to fix that problem.
4. Have you looked at Brightblue00GT's write up on it? If not, then that is the best thing that you can get to help you with any problems that you might run into.

Awesome MT1083...you are exactly who I was hoping would see this thread and respond.

So the oil in the clear bottle they supply (which is not labeled) is the supercharger oil and is 50 weight Redline? Just want to make sure I understood you correctly.

That is great news about not having to grind the block. I was not looking forward to that.

I have BrightBlue's supplement. I actually have read the instructions 3 times and have gone through and highlighted the steps that BrightBlue had comments on.

I just did 6psi install last weekend, here is my advice and tips:

1) Make damn sure you clean the terminals in your EEC very, very good. They stress it and they mean. I almost had a hear attack when I spent all night installing it and after 10 hours and turning the key and nothing.

2)I don't know if you have the install manual yet, you will need antifreeze and you are much better off draining it all the way, I tried to leave a little off but (at least on mine) there is a heater hose that lays in the V of your block and it is replaced, I had anti-freeze every where.

3) It says you need a fuel disconnect, they re-use my (01 GT) fuel rails so I just left them attatched.

4) Make sure you get one cooler set of plugs (IT20).

5) You definetly need another person

6) Use your head, I read ahead sometimes when not totaly understanding something. There will be a couple places that this happens.

Hey, let me also ask you this...what is the deal with having to get a volt meter and take readings before hooking up the accufab throttle body? I figured it would just be a plug and play easy swap for the factory throttle body.

You have to adjust the position of the TPS (throttle position sensor) to make sure that the eec reads the throttle position correctly. Its really simple to do. Mine actually wouldn't give the correct reading but I faxed KB my readings and they said that they were ok. If you have any problems just post here or call/fax/email KB. They respond to emails and faxes the quickest...getting them on the phone is almost impossible.

Ken at KB told me to gap my Denso U-grooves at .025, is this what everyone is gapping them at?

I did mine at .035, this is what Ken told me, but I have a 2V stock GT engine, it may by different than yours.
