keep old crankshaft and rods?

in coulple of weeks i'm gonna get the engine pull out and get it rebuild... i plan to get a s/c but i don't know what to keep from the old rotating assembly... should i keep the old crankshaft, rods? i'm gonna replace the old pistons with probe pistons (i wanna fix the oil burning problem) but i don't know if i should get a forged crank and rods? is it worth? forged crank and rods will give me a better performance?

no forged crank androds will no give you better performance for your application. The stock crank and rods are more then enough to hold anything you can throw at it in a stock block. I would recommend upgrading to ARP rod bolts and main studs. Some will chime in and add that forged rotating assembly will lighten everything up, resulting in better performence, less rotating mass..youll be fine with what youve got, just have a good machinist have a look at them.There are guys running LOW 10s on stock blocks on another forum i frequent....turbomustangs.com

well that oil burning problem you are talking about isnt from your crank,rods,piston heads.it is either from you rings or seals on your heads. i am going the current route as you and am for now re-useing all my stock internals.Also a Main girdle wouldnt hurt at all you shouldnt need to turn over your crank either so a standard rebuild kit should work. check out my site for my progress.............................

i don't smoke going down the road or not even when i sit in traffic..it has t be the pistons... "If the Oil ring is lower than the pin your going to be burning alot of oil, especially on a street car." 408stroker5.0

now, keeping the old crank and rods, can i still balance my rotating assembly?or what do i have to do to get it balanced?

can i just get a Ford Racing 28oz SFI APPROVED Balancer and install it on my car or the assembly will hav eto be ballanced for 28oz?
