keep or ditch carb spacer?

just curious.. whats the point of them im not even sure why one is on my car..just got a new carb and wondering if i should ditch the spacer while i was at it.. engine is stock bottom gt-40 irons edelbrock rpm intake longtubes holly 670 street avener and so on..its a 1" wooden 4 hole spacer..

Supposed to reduce heat transfer, blah blah. I had a spacer but only because my air cleaner base was hitting the distributor cap. Toss it if you want, especially if it's causing you hood clearance problems.

ooo ok no clearance problem..have a cowel hood.. i guess as long as its not hurting performance in any way ill just keep it

I picked up some grunt when i added mine. Just a small bit but it was noticeable.

Wood transfers less heat to the carb than aluminum, and they are usually laminate so they are very strong.
