Keepin it cool

So I went to the track last night for the first time with my GT. The best time I ran is in my sig, but I was having trouble keeping it consistent. I ran everything from 14.5 to 14.9 to 15.3. I think at least part of this has to do with heat. I let her sit for about an hour before that 14.5 run.

What are some of the bst ways to get my Stang to run cooler? I'm thinking a trans cooler might help (automatic). What about a t-stat? What temperature?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I say get some gears and a superchip microtuner, you can control the fan temp with the chip.

should've ran more consistent times with that automatic? what type of day was it? and which track did you go to?

LACR in Palmdale... and it was a warm one. I'll put it this way, first time I've ever not needed a jacket out there after the sun went down.

It was my first time with the car too, so I was playing around a bit trying to find an ideal racing style.

IMO, the tranny cooler is the best gift you can give (any) automatic, since heat is the #1 auto tranny killer. I had one on my last car, and I think that's why I never had any problems... it'll run cooler and shift better.

You can get a lower rated thermostat, I did that in my last car too. Much better in summer weather.

Also, consider a MAC CIA... you can find them for around $100 if you look in the right place.

Otherwise, look into a shift kit? I dunno..
