Kenne Bell or NOT? What to buy

So Kenne Bells probably have a little worse gas mileage than an centri or a turbo? I know that KB's also put off alot of heat to the motor. What can be done to cool it down? Besides a good radiator, elec. fan, water wetter, etc. Does KB have aftermarket IC systems?

KB's are great for the street. The reason that a lot of people go with a centrifugal (Vortech, ATI, Paxton) is that they make more total horsepower, but you really have to get on it to do it. The twin screw makes instant boost, but they don't keep building boost throughout the power curve. With a KB, you have 8lbs at 1500 rpm and you have 8lbs at 6000 rpm, whereas a centrifugal will have, say 2lb of boost at 3500 and 10lbs at 6000 (don't flame me, it's an example). If the car is going to be driven on the street mostly and you just want the seat of the pants feel of instant boost, go with KB. If you're going to be drag racing all the time and want to get the most power out of your car, you may want to consider a centrifugal. As for the whine, you're not going to get it from the twin screw. There is a little whine, but it's nothing compared to a centrifugal.
 
So, did stang2b buy the KB?

For 1500 bucks from someone he knows or trusts, I'd have been on that like (enter your own favorite cliche' here)!

And, who was it that sounded worried about loosing "grip" in 3rd gear?

That's the kind of problem we should all strive for! :D

Like Trigger said. His example is oversimplified but basically correct. It's kind of like comparing overall top speed to how quickly you can complete a 1/4 mile (over simplified again but you get the point). With a cetrifugal your highest speed at the end of a quarter mile (on the same engine) might be higher but a screw type will have built it's speed up faster for the entire run but still crossed the finished line at the same time. Not a bad analogy at all.
 
Charger, all accessories to install, FMU, Boost gauge, fuel preassure gauge, belt, my fuel pump has already been upgraded. Denso Iradium plugs, 6 and a 9 lb pulley, pulley wrench, Thats about all I can think of at the moment, oh and a gt-40 lower intake
 
Looks like you've got everything except for gaskets, sealant, 180* T-stat, new lower intake bolts, thread sealant, Set of one heat range cooler spark plugs (gapped to .35), adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and wideband 02 reader. You may also need a good grinder to modify your air conditioner bracket if you don't already have one (modified bracket or grinder). I'm assuming you also have the instructions with it and the one way relief valve that get put in between the boosted manifold and the MAP sensor.

You shouldn't need to notch the hood with the 1500 kit.

Kenne Bells make as much boost as anyother super charger out there & out perform em pound to pound of boost aswell, Kenne Bell don't use as much horse power to run & don't get as hot as a centrifugal does & Kenne Bell blowers whine way louder than a centrifugal, try putting a Kenne Bell next to a centrifugal, the centrifugal will sound like it makes no noise at all, Kenne Bell does make more power @ lower rpms & they offer pressures as high as all the others, Pound for pound I don't agree with what you just said.

Not sure which part you're not agreeing with but I think that it's the sound part. My Blowzilla makes almost no noise at all. If you listen hard for it you can pick it out over the engine noise at full boost. Otherwise, you can only hear it at idle and again would have to know the blower is there to pick out the whine. It's VERY quiet. It's only real givaway (other than the boost in power) is the *clak clak clak* you hear when the motor is shut off and the blower is winding down.

Edit: You can hear it pretty well when you let off the gas while still in gear and coming right out of boost. IMO that's the coolest noise it makes. :)

Throttle response is awesome... I think it would make a great road race blower. You could even adjust the bypass valve so that it closes earlier and opens later for even better response. I've actually installed a light spring on my bypass valve to give 'closing' a little more mechanical advantage. I do notice a slight difference in how fast the vac goes away and boost takes over.
 
umm im pretty sure the kb makes a lot more heat than a cent. they make less heat than a roots type i htink thats what youre confusing it with. same deal with the horsepower used to turn the pulley.
