hey guys just wondering if anybody figured out whats causing our cars to pause when switching gears? i heard that theres not much we can do but power shift so that it wont pause. :(

I find it helps not to let off the gas too much, kinda half way let off the gas when you shift. You might try calling KB and see if they can give you some advice. They have been of great help to me whenever I have had questions.

Had similar problem.. Proper tune made it disapear. There is a setting called tipin. This retards timing when you initially go into WOT. You may have to back off a bit.

Also , if your air intake temerature is a bit high, usually occurs third and forth gear, a slow shift will cause RPM to drop (as much as 1000 rpm). The settings for timing and heat may actually cause detonation if not set correctly. This may only be an issue with higher boost applications.

it happened like that to me 3 times when i shifted from 2nd at 5700 rpm to 3rd. The fourth time, my rods were gone. Now i had my engine rebuilt and stroke to 5.1L.
I will for sure have my car dynoed tune after i have my new motor.
Don't push it too hard or u will have to spend 6 grand on the engine

This actually happend to me at the track. Back to back runs. I believe the intake air temperature increased significantly. A slow shift caused the RPM to drop about 1000 rpm. Timing plus increased heat may have cause some detontation to occur hence the issue. I plan to have my tuner reduce some of the timing from around 4500 to 5000. I will also make sure I have at least 100 octane mixture when I go to the track.

You can dyno all day long in 1 gear. This issue is multiple 4 gear runs. I am at the point where I am considering water/methonal injection to address these Ait Intake heat issues.

also what was ur 1/4? i ran a 12.722@115 on street tires

You need slicks. 11.91 @ 115 here @ 9 psi. And that run was far from perfect weather or a perfect run. I plan to go to the track the next few weeks and I am almost certain I will run faster than that.

yea i do need slicks! what size rim and slick would fit on my car? how much hp and tq do you have bc?also what are u plaining on doing with this pausing problem.

I am running a 15"x9.75" rims, 6.5" bs, 10"x26" slicks with stock 3.27 gearing. I had to grind down the brakeline bolts with the Bullitt brakes to make the rims fit. I am at 400 rwhp and 410 rwtq. I don't have a pausing problem if I keep my foot in the throttle a little bit.

are you guys talking about the slight hesitation when u give it gas. like u give it gas and the rpms raise just a tad and then it kicks in? if so mine does that too. i just got it on my car today very happy. i can handle the hesitation it isnt that bad.

01 mustang gt how much hp& tq did u make when ur rods went?i was also told by jim from jdm performance that this pausing wont cause engine damage. also what was ur 1/4? i ran a 12.722@115 on street tires
i got like 375 rwhp and 386rwtq with a clutch that is slipping so badly. And after i got my centerforce dual friction on, broke the clutch in for a new dyno but unfortunately, the rods are gone before i can make it to the dyno shop

Hi BC,

Are you running on stock axles as wells?
