To answer a few questions here;
Just like a 03-04 Cobra, traction isn't as big as a problem as you think on the street. Although drag racing with a stock suspension and tires you will have some difficulties (I did, needed slicks)

The KB 1.7L GT kit is only good to a about 550 rwhp. They may becoming out with a race kit with a 2.2L which should see Kidds numbers and maybe more.

GT kit comes with 36 lbs. injectors.
KB non intercooled kit is $3799
Intercooled kit is $4899

Although not necessary unless you want to a bit more power, all of the upgrades (90MM METER/BIG TUBE KIT/SWITCH CHIP UPGRADE/COLD AIR KIT/75MM THROTTLE BODY) is $812 for existing customers (with chip). $1012 for new customers (without chip).

Well you can run 17+ psi of boost in a KB but you can't do it on pump gas due to inlet temps where as on a centi blower you can run 17+ psi with moderate timing and a IC and still run 93 octane with the right tune and produce roughy the same amount of power.

As well with the twin screw or roots style blowers you start losing boost and effeciency in the higher rpm range where on a centi you'll make more boost. Granted the KB twin screw is night and day compared to a roots blower as far as effenciency.

Both kits are great it depends on what you want to do with your car. KB would be more of a street car and still good for track use but the centi's are just as good streetable wise but better setup for track use, when drag racing if your drivetrain can handle it you won't be below 3500rpm's and be in boost the whole time anyways.

Here is the list from my spreadsheet on my mods:
9# IC Kit from KB - $4,899
CAI, 90 mm MAF, 75mm TB, Inlet tube - $812
Denso plugs - $96
BAS (haven't installed yet) - $199
Total - $6,006

You don't have to have the BAS, I just bought it to make sure the plugs were firing with no problems. NGK plugs are cheaper, but KB recommends Denso so I went with Denso. If I want to upgrade power, all I need to do is buy a smaller pulley. I won't run more boost though unless I rebuild the engine...its just too risky for me at the moment. KB says never to run more than 12# on a stock bottom end. My chip tune worked great and I had no problems with it.

As the owner of 4 different centrifugals on my current car (P1SC, s trim, t trim, & jt trim) and having recently ridden in a 03 cobra for the first time let me just say if I had it to do all over again I'd go straight for the KB. It's a totally different driving experience that cannot be compared in any way.

My vote would be the KB with a Cobra Killer tune.

You wont get a better testimony than that.

Most guys will tell you to get what they have even though they havent tried the other. This guy has a bada$$ (663 hp) centrifugal car and still says kenne.

By the way you car rocks and looks good too.

Kidd said the KB because the 660rwhp cen car scares the hell out of him.......
I like the KB's..Good fun units..
They are very limited on high hP applications..You wont see a 600rwhp 1.7 2valve...Now the 2.2 race 2valve kit will be badass......

The 2.2 for 99-01 cobras that was just released lists for somewhere around $6800 on KBs site. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 2V 2.2 go for the same.

No way...the 2valve kits will be cheaper all the way around for sure. Its a tuners kit if what they've said so far is true. Which means that it should be somewhere between 4000-5000 grand. There will be alot more people buying that kit. Low volume and installation issues with the cobra kits is what caused the problem.

Wrong. Christley himself has said that they will not offer a tuner kit with the 2.2. The only way you can get it is a complete kit and if the 9 psi 1.7 kit is already $4900 that'll give you an idea of what the 2.2 will be. This question was already asked and answered on their forums some time ago. Modularfords recently had an ownership change and lost quite a few threads but it might still be there.

ya it appears that the 2.2 requires new pistons and rods (AT LEAST) for the 99-01 cobra so power wise i wouldn't be surprised how much more this adds also micool is right according the the price guide it lists the 1.7 99-01 cobra kit at $4900 for the NON intercooled 9psi version the intercooled 1.7 at 9psi runs at $6799 the price difference between the intercooled 1.7 and the 2.2 for the 99-01 cobra is actually $100 2.2 sells for $6899 so i am lead to believe that the 1.7 vs 2.2 for the 2valve price actually shouldn't increase too much

Look at the 2.2L kit non-intercooled for the 03 cobra. Its in the mid 3's. The reason is because no intercooler is needed. But the difference in an intercooler and non-intercooled 1.7L is only like 1100 so why would the 2.2L for the 2valve be so much more?

A few things might increase the price such as an 8 rib pulley setup, all of the upgrades (maf, big tube kit, tb, etc.), bigger more expensive injectors, BAS, maybe even a fuel pump upgrade in addition to the BAP. I see it adding up quick. It might even surpass the cost of the new Cobra kit.
