kenne bell vs. Procharger

want to eventually supercharge my cobra. i'm gonna do the following build:

CP pistons
manley forged rods
ported stock heads
havent decided on cams yet

i want to know which is the better choice for a street car that is rarely gonna see the track or the dyno. you might ask why the hell someone would do all this for a car that doesnt race. well good question. i'm stupid ok? so anyway i like the kenne bell's instant torque but i also like the ATI's intercooler system for street use. what do you hard core SC Cobra guys recomend?

I would go for the KB. With the KB you'll get instant torque right off idle which is what you want for fun on the street! The Procharger would be a good choice if you are into top speed highway runs, but for stoplight-to-stoplight blasts nothing beats a roots-style SC.

isnt the KB a twin screw? thought that was different from a roots blower. what psi is good to start off with? with my build i could go with a D-1SC about 10-12 psi easy. i want to make around 500rwhp.

It is a twin screw...but it makes plenty of torque right from the get-go just like a roots style SC. The only difference between a twin screw and a roots is the twin screw not only compresses air in the manifold, but also inside its own case whereas a roots compresses air in the manifold only. In both cases though, full boost is achieved at a much lower RPM (typically before 3000RPM's) when compared to a belt driven supercharger.

As far as PSI, what do you expect your new motors' CR to be?

No limit motorsports in ATL is doing the build. prob 8.5:1 or 9.0:1 close to stock. but i have been assured by them that with that build and a blower it will be reliable. they did a build for a guy that had a 99 Cobra and the ATI F-1 blower with over 700hp and it was street car (insane). and that guy soon replaced it with a cog driven unit (doubly insane). this guy never took it to the track if you can believe it.

honestly, since i'm not a track warrior, relaibility and setup that would be the smallest headache possible down the road is what i'm going for, even if i'm sacrificing a little performance. i just want a bad@ss street car. i guess i just have the preconcieved notion that the ATI's are safer on the long hall since they offer the best warranty's and are very popular bolt on SC's for completely stock cars.

I think the centrifigul blowers like the ATI would be better because they are not putting is much stress on your engine all the time becaue they make more power up higher which will also make your car easier to drive as a street car. I say get a pro charger with 410's
