Dont know if this is really tech, but it's not really "talk" either.

My Hoopty Escort only came with ONE keyless remote entry. It is also a passive security device. If I use the remote to lock the doors and I open the doors with the keys, the horn beeps and the lights flash...Therefore, I need to get another remote entry.

Anyone know how/where to get a second keyless entry remote?

Also, I have the original one from the stang that I dont use since I got an alarm. Maybe I could use that, but then I need to get it programmed.

Any help would be appreciated.

The keyless entry module in the car holds the information as to which key fobs work it. In the mustang, there is a jumper that makes the keyless module remember the fob. It's a simple procedure that doesn't require a trip to the dealer.

IIRC, almost all fords in the last 12 years use either 1 of 2 designs. If the FFC ID on the back matches, chances are high that it will work.

With my mustang, I bought a fob not originally from a Mustang (no pony on the front) off of ebay, and programmed it to work without problems.

1. What's a fob?

2. You say "it's a simple procedure" and "I programmed it to work". Care to share the "hows" of that

When I got my stang, I bought a second keyless entry remote. My sister's boyfriend works at a dealership as a Ford technician, so I took the car and remote to him, and he programmed the remote to work with my car. I can't remember how he did it, it was 2 years ago so the memory is foggy. If you take your new remote and your car to a dealership, they chould be able to either program it for you, or tell you how to do it.

http://www.fordf150.net/howto/reprogramremotes.php

Ok...I found it...except when I tried it, the Escort locks triggered on the "5th" cycle, not "8th" like it said there.

AND OH, btw...I was able to use the stock Mustang remote

THey have the SAME ID codes on them. The only difference in the remotes is that the one from the Stang has a pony on the front.

I feel like having a beer now

Sorry to leave you hanging. Glad to hear that you got it worked out. I didn't break out specific instructions, as I had no idea what year Racescort you had (my daily driver is also a Escort (w/o keyless entry)). What year is it? I probably have specific service manual instructions, so you know how to do it right the next time.

Also, I call the remote a fob sometimes, I guess I thought it was more common...oops.

FWIW -

To program a keyless entry remote on 94-95 Mustangs' :

1. Turn ignition switch (11572) to RUN or ACC position and momentarily short the two terminals of the Program Connector (two-pin connector next to the electronic door lock control processor. Remove LH luggage compartment and trim panel to access connector). All doors should lock then unlock. Remove shorting pin.

2. Press any button on keyless entry remote transmitter. All doors should lock and then unlock, to verify that keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed.

NOTE:
If door locks do not respond, press button again (up to three times maximum with the same keyless entry remote transmitter). If door locks still fail to respond, go to «Pinpoint Test A.»

3. Repeat Step 2 to program additional keyless entry remote transmitters into the electronic door lock control processor (up to a maximum of four keyless entry remote transmitters).

4. Turn ignition switch OFF. All doors should lock and then unlock.

5. Check operation.
