I was wondering what it would take to set this up in my car? I thought all newer mustangs had it, but when I bought mine (used) I only got keys. It has power locks. Did the previous owner of the car maybe never give in the remotes? Thanks for any info.

Probably didn't give you the remotes to it, go get a car alarm installed into the car. The factory remotes cost an arm and a leg to purchase replacements, probably would be cheaper to get an alarm. Why not call the previous owner and ask? Or did you get it from a dealer?

Go into your Owner's Manual, and do the programming instructions. If you Mustang supports them, it should go into programming mode and confirm such by locking and unlocking the doors. If so, just stop there and end the programming mode.

The keyfob remotes are offered for action up on eBay constantly. That is probably the cheapest place to get a set for yourself.

Once you have them, do the programming instructions again, this time actually programming in your newly acquired keyfob remotes.

Thanks for the help.

Is there any way you could tell me the programming instructions or give me a link of where to find them, because I don't have the owners manual?

I paid 54 bucks for the remote and the guy at Ford set it up for free. Probably the ONLY good experience I have had at Ford.

I paid 48 bucks for one at my local ford dealer... CarMax then reimbursed me the money, since they sold me a used car with missing remotes.

i'd buy the remotes off ebay, you can program them yourself, the instructions are in the owners manual, takes about 2 minutes to program them

See http://www.nvo.com/chipkeys/displayroom3/
Programming instructions can be downloaded from the site.
I bought both spare remotes and keys there for my '03. Both worked fine.

from my experience stay as afar away from aftermarket alarms as humanly possible. they generally cause way more problems than the factory PATS type alarm. plus around here people totally ignore the alarms. i think most peoples problems is that they have them installed incorrectly or buy a cheap alarm. theres a viper system out thats pretty awesome, but its expensive. a guy i know has one on his chevy pickup, it came with a little pager type thing that tells him if its going off.

What type of battery do the remotes take? One of mine is dead already.

That looks like a reasonable "buy it now" price.

However, I bet if you search around on eBay, you will find your seller auctioning off the keyfob remotes and the owner's manual from the Mustang he sold you.
