kicker kx450 amp problem

i have a kicker kx450 amp with 2 kicker comp vr 12's, it sounds good and all..but the amp has that, and as far as im concerned STUPID, proctection circuit thing on it where the amp cuts off when the volume gets to loud?...i dont know if thats what cuts it off, but when i turn it up to loud the amp cuts off, but if i turn the bass boost and gain down, then of course you cant hear it as much, i have a pioneer deck, and if its on super bass..i cant turn it up any higher then maybe 20 before it cuts off ( the deck gets up to 60 i believe) what to do? is there anything that can make the amp not cut itself off...if not, then im going to just end up selling it, because that thing gets annoying...any help is appreciated

Check your impedence load on the amp. Depending on how you wired the subs, the ohm rating may be to low for the amp at higher volumes. That is what the problem sounds like.

It is also possible that it has intermittent grounding issues. If your ground isn't sufficient, it could cause that problem.

well i can tell you now, the ground is a lil shakey, i just used the wire they gave me with the amp kit, and it doesnt stretch to far, so i will for sure find a better ground then what im using, and ill check up on that impedence...thanks guys
