In simplest terms, it is the twisting force of the crankshaft. Torque is what gets the car moving. Horsepower keeps it there. Torque can be mulitplied using different gear ratios. That's why a set of 4:10s will make a car accellerate faster that a set of 3:27s.
Torque is your friend.... Torque gets you low ETs and faster. Horsepower is just a derivative of torque and RPMs. Theorethically, Horsepower will always euqal torque at 5252 rpms
2 cars, same torque, one capable of revving to 9000 rpms and the other to 7000 rpms. out of the hole they both have the potential for equal launches, but he car that can rev higher will mosty likely win because it is able to stay in its power band longer.
torque is your friend! how much of it you can use gets you first place...
If you have torque you most likely will not be askin to go from a roll when you race. Unless you have tons of torque and hp, wich could be scary even from a roll.
