King cobra vs. Spec 1 clutch

Not personally as I drive an AODE, but I do run a car club with a LOT of mustangs in it. I've heard bad things about the King Cobra on anything more than a near stock car. You appear to be 100HP higher.

Humm...Bad things huh?? Thats the clutch im going to be running on my 331 stroker, wonder how long it will last?? it's the clutch that my speed shop recomended for under 400 RWHP

I do plan on bolting on some more power adders and It is set up as a track car so I will be beating the hell out of the clutch and my leg. I just like that it is rated at 410tq so I do have room to play with I was looking into a spec 2 but that is rated at about 520tq and I do not think I am going that far with this car. I did purchase the spec 1 though, did I make the mistake and drop more money then neccesary?

I highly recommend a King Cobra. I had a combo/King Cobra with more power than yours and did it just fine, and lasted a long time with daily driver abuse.

It is one of the most popular clutches out there, and for a reason...:nice:

I am running the spec stage 1 and has been a good clutch so far. The only thing I can tell you to do before you install, go and buy a oem TOB. Spec TOBs sux a**. The first one I put in lasted down the driveway and the second one they sent me lasted 10 miles. The oem has lasted going on 3k miles.

I have had the king cobra for 10K now and love it, i dont have much more HP than stock, but i actually bought this clutch with teh intent of an H/C/I later on down the road. i figured i wanted my clutch to be the weak link rather than my T-5. i dont think i would have wanted to go more aggressive than the KC for that reason, just a thought

I was running the Ford Racing Heavy Duty clutch with my combo and it held up great as a daily driver for about 45K miles.. I just recently put in the King Cobra and suspect it will hold up as good as the previous clutch. Below is a list of Engine and Drivetrain mods....

I'm also not familiar with the Spec 1 clutch since I've never used it, but I am running a King Cobra. It's got great pedal feel, IMO, and I've heard nothing but good things about them. That includes some crazy 4-5K launches on slicks without missing a beat. When this clutch goes, it's getting replaced with another King Cobra, and when that one goes, it'll get another. That's what gets my vote.
