Knee Joints And Manual Transmissions

I tore loose a piece of cartilige in at least one knee crouching next to a small project in the shop. It did not take long, I just started using the stool as a sawhorse and forgot to sit. When I went to stand, my left knee could not support weight or pivot, and the right was not happy either.

Now they want to scope my knee before the piece messes it up worse, RIGHT NOW. They will do some other smoothing while in there. Surprisingly, the bones are some of the few without arthritis.

Why in a car discussion? Because they think if I do not get it fixed, a clutch, and even getting in and out of the car, will get harder and hurt more.
So, how is recovery from knee scopes? The Doc said plan on two days off of it, then he tells rail roaders lay off 5 days before going back to the diesel shop. In 1-2 months like it never happened. Does that sound right?

Thanks! I would not hesitate getting my car's suspension fixed for a worn joint or bushing. And not being able to bend my knee fully or still pivot reliably is limiting me too much. But there are other things that hurt more since I have been shifting weight, (like my lower back and other hip and knee). That is the goofy part.
Maybe I can trade in for a newer chassis? Clone City!

The surgeon and anesthesiologist did a great job. Within a week, the worked on knee was better than the other one that I did not think needed worked on. It still may swell some and have a shooting pain with weather changes or too much standing. But the therapy exercises on it are no big deal, and it is getting better and is already trustworthy.

The best thing the doctors did was a femoral nerve block. For the first four or so days, the knee was really numb. So instead of crutches, I used a walker so I did not just fall over that way. And by the time I could feel that knee cap, no strong pain pills were needed for it. I will definetly go that way if my other knee needs work.
