knock sensor mod ?

is there any truth to this ive read in a few diff places you can un plug your knock sensor and pick up some lost power as it pulls out timming for noises other than detitnation .

also on a 88 t/c where is the knock sensor located ?

im not new to cars or fox bodies but am new to the turbo game ... and i def do know what detitnation sounds like .

so anyone with first hand experience care to chime in please?

Yes they are overly sensitive and pick up things like intercooler bracket rattles etc and pull timing.
Some have had luck using teflon tape on them to insulate them a bit.

i believe it is located o n the lower intake manifold. at least that is where it was located on my 86 svo.

Knock sensor is indeed on the back of the lower intake (facing toward the firewall), I'm thinking it's the upper sensor? I believe the lower one is the air temp sensor. I can't exactly remember which is which.
