Anyone ever experience a fairly loud knock noise while changing steering directions? It happens pretty often in my 2000 GT when I swing out to make a larger turn, right as I turn the wheel into where I'm headed.

Any ideas on what it is/if its a problem/how to solve it?

Maybe....

Sometimes I get that too in my 99. I think I may have traced it down to the back seat belt wacking against the plastic piece its resting on. Check it out.

It may be something loose in the suspension and steering or something binding up. It could be coming from the back too. Hard to say exactly what - you'll just have to jack the car up and start inspecting.

Hopefully it's just a belt buckle knockin' around

I'd start with the front sway bar and the mounts for it. One of the bushings may be turn or deteriorated.
Then make sure the struts are tight.
Check the simple things first.

A friend with a 95 GT had this same problem and it was his front sway bar bushings. Good call
