I have a 2006 4.6 3v with a Whipple. I drive the car like a granny, and on occasion a give it the gas. Almost two years ago I stomped on the gas, and immediately the car coughed and started ticking like a lifter issue. I changed the phasers, coils, spark plugs (Ford Racing) timing set, oil pump, water pump. lifters. rollers, cut open the oil filter to check for bearing material, and sparkels, none to be forund! I removed the serpentine to see if the the noise is from one of the accessories. Had an exhaust leak on the passenger side header, replaced the faulty gasket with a Ford Racing manifold gasket. No matter what I've done the clicking noise persists. Anything I'm missing? Looking for Obi Won!
