Knowing what I know now...

It
Man, when I was in high school a friend of mine was given a brand new Fiero for graduation. Driving a fastback Mustang I snickered at him, until I drove it. That lil' sonofagun handled fantastically! (keep in mind my benchmark was a '70 mustang with front drums) I've often wondered what a badass little car could've been built with one of those, some serious brakes, and a pair of 68mm turbos.

I had the 6 cylinder GT version back in 88. The fact that they can be completely stripped if their "fieroness" and there are so many kit car companies building whole body kits for the remaining chassis has always been a "I wonder if" for me.
The stock 6 cylinder is a pain in the ass to deal with, as the one side of the engine is almost inaccessible, besides, it's also a weak-assed P.O.S. I'd do a turbo'd 4, w/ a 300 whp target.
THAT would be fun.

Hell, man I'd just leave it in it's Pontiac skin and let everyone think "Damn, I just got smoked by a Fiero!":rlaugh:
I don't think I've seen a lambo kit in person on one, but I have seen several Ferrari kits on them, and frankly, they're terrible. They are so far from the real thing it's shameful. That's why I'd be leary of trying to reskin one mostly...

Yeah, but you're you, and I'm me:shrug:

Aside from a just really s hitty kit, Most body kit cars are all about the guy putting the fiberglass on, and how he solves the issues that will come up as a result.
There aren't that many kit car companies left after all ( I looked) I guess the supply of salvageable Fieros is going the way of the DoDo Bird. But the picture of the one I posted is a 13,ooo.00 kit. It BETTER be of good quality for that price.

What I think made the Ferrari kits look so bad was they were really disproportioned. They seemed to be wider than they were long. Not even remotely the same form of a Ferrari. The quality of the glass and application was great, but at first glance at the car you knew something was waay wrong.

What makes a kit car cool to me is having to really look to spot the difference. I can dig that, the ones I mentioned looked like a cartoon or something. The wheel base at bare minimum needed to be altered.

not really sure...

i would have liked to have a 400"+ project car that some one didnt have the money or time to finish but not really sure if it would feel like it was "MINE" at that point. my car currently other then the paint and the 4 to 8 conversion was done by me.

Dude, it'd totally be yours. You just let the other sucker buy the expensive stuff for you. i.e. longblock, trans, and rearend. Then customize to your liking from there.
