KOER Codes 94 & 44...any fix??

Okay, so the codes are for the air management system, but how do I eliminate these codes or fix/diagnose it so they go away? Are they changing any other parameters in the ECU being present...(a/f ratio)?

The car is an '89, and no I haven't 'deleted' the smog equip.

...JRichker, any input?

An 80 ohm, 2 watt resistor wired across each set of solenoid valve electrical connector contacts will make the code go away.

Removing the EGR by any means other than a custom tuned chip is not recommended. The EGR shuts off at Wide Open Throttle (WOT), so it has minimal effect on performance. The addition of exhaust gas drops combustion temperature, increases gas mileage and reduces the tendency of the engine to ping. It can also reduce HC emissions by reducing fuel consumption.

What is the procedure on testing the TAD and TAB solenoid valves to see if they are working properly? I just purchased a new air pump due to the noise the original was making, but in comparing the two, the output of airflow feels about the same. This leads me to think that the valves aren't working properly and causing the the codes...

Do you mind if I quote this in a few other forums where people think removing the EGR is the best performance mod since superchargers were invented? I love this response.. it's perfect.

Don't the newer engines not have EGR?
The newer cars run cleaner and don't use the Thermactor Air System or smog pump. As I said before the smog pump & EGR are two different and totally separate systems.

Go right ahead. If there are any doubts, have them check THE BOOK for 5.0 Mustang EEC systems, Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 by Charles Probst :ISBN 0-8376-0301-3.

It's about $20 from Borders.com see http://www.amazon.com/ . Select boo...mustang/tech/engine/images/88-91eecPinout.gif
