KOER... no flashing

When running a Key On Engine Running code test, how long should it take for any flashing to occur (i believe there should be 1 to indicate you are to rev the engine momentarily - as fordfuelinjection.com instructions say - http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=94)? My KOEO tests work fine but when I run an engine running test I got no flashes... Maybe I didnt wait long enough but it was a good 2-3 mintues... the car's idle floated around a bit (tests I'm assuming) and then leaned WAY out (off the gauge) and stayed there for pretty much the entire time I waited. Anyone have input on the KOER test? thanks!

Key On Engine Running diagnostics: Theory says it flashes a 4 (number of cylinders divided by 2) and then an 11 (system OK). Then it does the EGR diagnostic, which makes the engine drop RPM and speed back up.

If you got a code 67 with the Key On, Engine Off diagnostics, the Key On, Engine Running diagostic will not run.

Code 67 - clutch not depressed (5 speed) or car not in neutral or park (auto) or A/C in On position when codes where dumped. Possible neutral safety switch or wiring problem. This code may prevent you from running the Key On Engine On tests. You can generally ignore this code, since it has no effect on engine performance.

The computer wants to make sure the A/C is off due to the added load on the engine for the engine running tests. It also checks to see that the transmission is in Neutral and the clutch depressed (T5, T56, Tremec 3550 & TKO)). This prevents the car from being driven while the computer is in test mode. Key On Engine Running test mode takes the throttle control away from the driver for several tests. This could prove hazardous if the computer was jumpered into test mode and then driven.

The NSS code 67 can be bypassed for testing. You will need to temporarily ground computer pin 30 to the chassis.

Yeah, actually I thought of that after posting (and I actually figured I'd have a reply from you, saying exactly what you did say)! Anyway, I haven't yet figured out where on the car to run that Pin 30 wire that will give me BOTH the clutch switch AND the neutral switch needed for the computer...

Any insight by any chance?

I'm not using a reader, I'm using a jumper and the check engine light... And one more try, anyone have insight on where to pick up Clutch switch AND neutral switch in one shot for pin 30? That seems to be what my limited wiring diagrams tell me I am missing...

The simplest place is right at the computer. A safety pin to probe the wire from the back of the computer connetor is needed. Connecting it to a short jumper wire and grounding it should do the trick.

Thanks Jrichker, but I was actually thinking more from the "finishing the wiring on my 2.3T to 5.0 swap" once and for all and not so much just to run KOER. The only thing I haven't gotten finished up is that circuit. And I want to finish up my wiring so I lose code 67 properly and I can say it's all perfectly wired! So I was just curious if anyone knew where I could tap into the cars clutch and neutral switch in one shot...
