I haven't. Car is so damn low and the alternator is relocated to the bottom of the engine due to the supercharger so its not easy to get to without ramps/jacks, which of course, are buried in my garage at the house.

My PA performance alternator seems good so far. They are 100% new parts, not rebuilt.

On the battery, remember the leads on our batteries are reversed from typical. So consider the length of your cables on if they will work with whatever battery you go with. Just something to think about if you haven't already

Also, the AGM batteries are taller. I just went through this, so you'll want to do some measuring first. Didn't work out for me....

I'd probably toss a battery in there either way. You were saying it's due date is here I believe.

Ah ok. I've been reading a lot on this battery 'upgrade' and a lot of people have said they pop right in. Might be brand specific on dimensions then. But when looking for alternators i'm looking for a 94/95 alternator, correct? Or is it like a Fox 3G upgrade specific alternator?

The more i'm going through all this, the more i think it may be time to just throw in the towel, drive the car to the house and park it until we move back in. Too many things keep popping up that I just can't fix at the moment and its just making me frustrated.

When I got mine (I asked for an alternator for a 1995 GT) it was only another $20 or so to get one that had the lifetime warranty vs a one year at the parts store so that is what I went with. Have never replaced it.

Could be. I noticed all the AGM batteries were taller by the online measurements. My issue is the negative cable. It sticks out from the clamp a few inches. It's what hits the hood. So I could probably change that and maybe one would fit.
Had enough going on and didn't feel like changing a brand new cable so.....

I'm using a fox 130a 3g. I'm sure there are other ways.

ha ha just gotta laugh some things off. NO rain in the forecast today, so I drive the mustang to work. I'm out on our production floor and I start to hear what sounds like someone moving a pallet jack around, but there is a sneaky suspicion in the back of mind it's not. I look around, no one moving anything. , its rain on the roof, so I go to our front door and look out and it's like the most torrential downpour happening. Run out to the Stang quickly to grab my bubble wrap vent covers, existing tape is making them stick to each other in bunch balls, I'm fumbling to get them separated and straight as fast as I can all while getting soaked. F it, tape is obviously not sticking to the wet paint so I just jam them in the vents covering them the best I can and run back to cover. Completely drenched, like as if (mainly the backside of my clothes) I jumped in a pool. Now I'm sitting here, wet clothes, wet socks, wet shoes, wet chair, wet hair, cold as hell because this damn building keeps the AC on full blast.

All for like 10 minutes of unexpected torrential rain.

I mean engines can get wet I get it but the drivers vent is right above the battery and some coil (ish) area wiring ( a little more so above the header). The passenger vent is directly above the supercharger head unit and pulley/belt as well as the inlet/discharge pipes, drive belt and smog pump and alternator assemblies that are under that area as water drips downward.

I'm more of the mindset if i can keep water out of there the better. I don't want things unnecessarily rusting or water getting into wiring. The rain was heavy and blowing pretty good sideways as it was windy so I can't be certain exactly what was/would get drenched.

But yes, i'm sure my drive home heated everything up enough to evaporate the water that did make its way into the bay.

Necessary, no. Worth it, yes. Normally I would have a garage to park it in so it wouldn’t be a problem. When I put the vents in I did not factor in the long ass home renovation that has displaced us and relegated the Mustang to street parking during the rainy months.

Although in this specific instance there was no rain in the forecast (showed all sunny) and then we get 10-15 minutes of torrential downpour… so having access to my garage wouldn’t have helped on this case. A fluke situation that should be rare.

Well, driving at speed actually wouldn’t be a problem because the vents are setup where they pull air out from the engine bay so at freeway speeds in rain I would expect to see water being pushed back upward above the hood. Now at low speeds it is a problem.

But, I just typically wouldn’t be driving it in the rain. Also, big also, I wouldn’t have put these in if I didn’t live in San Diego. We don’t typically get a lot of rain or general foul weather, I just got caught randomly in an unexpected short rain storm. The DD 4Runner takes on those duties.

Are those vents metal? If so, some sort of magnetic cover would be the ticket im thinkin. Easy on, easy off.

Just keep a light weight car cover in the trunk already.

Once you get used to it, it takes like 30 seconds to toss a cover on. Another 10 to lean over and pick up the coffee and briefcase you set down, depending on the kind of morning you're having.

You're putting it on a dirt car, so one with that fuzzy kind of inner lining is best for this.

They are and that’s something I need to do (and has been suggested previously). I wonder if my mom could sew me something up… I don’t possess those skills.

Haha I have one. Car was so dirty though I didn’t want to put the cover on it and scratch the paint or get my cover dirty. But my paint sucks anyways so who am I kidding.

This is a great idea and will steer me in the right direction. I just need a 10" x 23" (approx) size, but something like these would work great.
