Does it have to be a 1993 distributor? Car-part barely had any of that year, but did show other years.

Nope but the odds are the newer the car is the less miles it will have on it.

Well, i don't know if this matters much but I drove down to the house to check on things and there is a long (~1.5 mile) downhill road from my work to my house so i was just coasting in 4th gear. As expected, AFR was rich like in the 12's on decel... but after some amount of time i glanced over again at the gauge and it was reading like 16-17 or lean (as you would expect on decel). So maybe something in my 'system' is lagging at least showing on the AFR gauge.

So I want to say you have a stock ECU (with or without chip?) or is it an aftermarket?

Well, lost my blinkers on the way to work this morning. They worked yesterday.

Headlight (brights), wipers, etc. still work using the multifunction switch, just no blinkers.

Edit: cue the electrical gremlins starting. Went out after researching some things and walah, they work again. Weird.

Better check the multifunction switch wiring and the headlight switch wiring at the switches.

Any insight on the previous mention of the stock vs aftermarket ECU? Would that affect AFR on decel going from rich to lean? I still was never able to confirm if the stock A9L does not enable decel fuel cutoff, but the long coast downhill that finally showed lean must mean it might. Or i just have a fuel issue.

I think I posted previously that the A9L had two steps of decel.

When i swapped to a tilt column, i replaced every pigtail available on or around the column and lights.
I think all of them can be had, just depinned each one wire by wire and put the new ones in.
Well worth it, pretty much all of them had loose wires from the clips being broken that hold wire/connectors in.
So if you have intermittent problems, that is where i would start.

Its something with the multifunction switch connector. Again, on the way to work this morning... no blinkers. So i'm driving on the freeway and just start jiggling the multifunction switch in/out and side/side and they start working again. Just need to tighten up that connection.

*edit: jiggling, i wasn't laughing at the switch to get it to work, ha ha

You think it’s a short that could catch fire or just an intermittent connection?

Intermittent, you'll prolly find the connector plastic burnt/disfigured, as far as fire, there is always a possibility, unlikely though.

Man, pull the steering column covers off and see if the switch itself is just loose. I’m not saying this is it but might be worth a shot.

So random question. I've mentioned it before, but my Airbag light flashes continuously sometimes after startup. My horn and cruise control work so i don't 'think' its my clockspring. I have the new LMR cupholder console but the two power ports both work as well (i think those work off the old cigarette lighter feed).

Send the module away to AirbagSystems? Not important but it would be nice to have all my systems functioning properly. Not that i would even trust a 36 year old airbag in a crash.

gkomo said:
One other thing (i know i jump around a lot) is my AirBag dash light comes on, blinks, stays on, or doesn't come on at all at times. I finally counted the blinking when it was blinking and was getting either 6, or 66. I researched that and most people say thats the ClockSpring going out. I read i should test my horn and cruise control to narrow it down as they could all be affected by the clockspring.

Unfortunately it looks like no clocksprings are available new, should i risk going the ebay route?

Would this be something sending the airbag module to AirBagSystems (i think thats the company name) be worth doing?
