I need to buy new shocks and struts for my 96 mustang and I am planning on buying the kyb gr-2. Do i also have to buy the kyb strut mounts and strut boots? or can i use the old ones. Part # SM5036 and SB103

Thanks. I did the rear ones easily. But for the front struts i can't figure out how to remove the factory strut mounts and the plastic dust covers from the struts. Because the whole assembly came out when i removed the first one.

Funny! I just got done doing a lowering job and new shocks and struts all the way around this afternoon on my 98. When the front strut assembly comes out of the car...the plastic dust cover should slide up off of the strut without too much fuss. But I do not know what you mean by factory strut mounts...

I was talking about that I didn't know how to remove the top part with the bolts from the strut. But then i just figured to used a flat head screwdriver to keep it from moving while i unscrewed the nut.
And thanks. What kind of springs did you used?

I used Ford Racing progressive rates from Late Model Restoration. They advertise that they lower the car .5 to .75 inches which is not very much but even with the springs still being fresh the car looks much better. My father and I had to grind down an old screwdriver to fit into the slot so that we could unbolt the upper part but one side was too messed up to hold the slot and we had to grind the nut off. :nonono: Good luck with the install!
