L/T HEADERS

I'm ordering L/T's next.Would the Mac L/T's fit right onto my Mustangtuning o/r X pipe? if not, which L/T's would fit with my mid pipe??

NO longtubes are going to work with your current mid-pipe. You can, however, get your current mid-pipe cut down by a good exhaust shop. That or buy a new mid-pipe to fit the LT's & sell your current mid-pipe

ya dude. U'll need new mid pipe. If your going with Mac, be certain to pay extra for ceramic coated LT's. You'll be grad you did when you hear other people complain about how quick normal Mac LT rust up....

Oh and mac LT and Prochamber ......

VRS makes true X-pipes for either BBK or Mac LT headers. you can get an aluminized steel o/r VRS X for $160, or a stainless steel one for $220.

Damn it . well could i cut my current x pipe a bit and weld the mac L/T's to the x pipe? will that work

you could do it, but then its gonna be a real PITA if you ever need to do work that requires removing the LT's or mid-pipe. for example, a clutch change or tranny drop. unless you just plan on cutting it again.

I wouldnt do it. I'd buy the VRS X for Mac LT's, only $160 and sell your Mustangtuning X.

i just checked on the pypes website which im pretty sure is the same asthe mustang tuning one youcan buy a x pipe for long tube headers from them for like 80 bucks i believe thats for a aluminized one. im in the same boat as you, and this is what im most likely gonna do

re-read my last post you'll need to buy some ball & socket joints & have them welded onto the cutdown x-pipe & then you're ready to go

what about Hooker headers , will that work for my o/r X pipe ? or still same problem. Because i'm kinda l leaning towards hooker Headers i might get that

yeah you are going to have a problem with ANY lt that you go with

LT's are much longer than your current manifolds, therefore you need a shorter midpipe no matter what LT's you get.

Sorry dude... NO LT is going to work with your current mid-pipe...

You do know what LTs look like right? How on earth did you expect them to work when your current X goes all the way up to the manifolds? I would go with ceremic BBK LTs and a VRS O/R X. Those LTs are $500, but WELL worth it, great quality.

fine you guys convinced me
okay since i'm on a budget.I will leave the new X pipe and LT's , untill after i get my mongoose kit.and sell the mustangtuning one.And since you guys recomend the BBK LT's i have to ask this ....can I go with DR.Gas x pipe with the BBK LT's ?

yes, the Dr. Gas will work with BBK LT's, hotmustang331 has that set-up. BUT, I'll say it again, just because I can: Get a VRS X-Pipe made specifically for BBK LT's. Why? for one, thay are made to fit BBK LT's. you can get one in either aluminized steel or Stainless steel. its a true X just like Dr. Gas and unlike Dr. Gas, the VRS doesnt need to be welded together. having to pay have the Dr. Gas welded together is just more money you have to pay.

that said, the Dr. Gas X-pipe will fit and is a great product as well. your choice.

I will vote for Mac's, I have two friends with BBK and both are rusted to hell. My Mac's look fine and have been on the car 8 months.

Mine look just as good now as the day I put them on (- road film lol..and where my tubular K/motor mount was hitting ) . They obviously wernt ceremic coated.

And yea I have the DR Gas O/R X. Only difference is the Dr Gas's crossover or "X" should be a little sooner than teh VRS one. Which makes maybe a TAD difference, and gives it a unique sound (slightly) thats not attained by any other X that I know of. But we welded our up ourselves...and since most cant do that, nor want to pay for it...I reccomended the VRS. To me its #2 on the list, JUST behind the DR Gas. JMO though.

IS BBK coated? Was Mac coated? I'm sure that BBK weren't coated, and Mac was...
