Had an awesome moment driving down the road earlier. Was cruising up to a stoplight and say a Lambo Countach(sp?) sitting in the right lane with the door up and a huge puddle underneath it. Looks like the radiator took a dump. I stopped next to the guy and said "shoulda bought a ford" and started laughing, he was pissed, then I juiced the throttle...

That lambo seemed so cool in the eighties but the Contach is like a Pantera now where as they are nice to look at, but shouldn't be driven regularly. I had a Chance to drive a contach a couple of years ago, no thanks.

have you seen how much of a PITA it is to work on those things? you have to ajust the mixture (i think) for each 12 cylinders one at a time, by the time u finish #12 the 1st was adapted differently due to the changes of the other ones, i dont understand countoch owners

They suck in more ways than one...designers of lambo doors are probably going to take heat over that.
Caution: NWS possibly, some pictures are kinda gorey in nature.

You know, i've never thought about that.. but your right. If that happened in US, they would have hang the designer 3 times over....

But i don't think I've ever hear of crash testing to see if occupant can get out of car if car flipped over... is there such regulation?

disturbing and i never thought about it before, but if you read further below in the thread it states that the vehicle flipped while doing 250km/h, they would have been dead before the fire started, im sure they could have elbow'd out the glass had they been conscious.

hate to burst your bubble, but it was confirmed by witnesses that they were alive when the fire started, you can tell by their body positions. Plus, check sig. You'll find me at Lambo forums, more than you will here

Yeah i guess the lambo door conversion kits would have allowed you to get out though. The kits allow the doors to open out and up, so you could get out if upside down. The true lambo doors only go 1 way....up...what a crappy way to go (both the way they died and the way the doors open).

The Countach is beautiful. It's fast. It's cool. But it sucks to sit in for more than a few minutes, and it's expensive to buy and maintain. High risk, high reward.
