Im considering buying some Cobra R 18 x 9 Rims, and I was just wondering what the widest tire I can fit on the rear. What kind of combinations are you guys running?? I was thinking of doing 18 x 10.5 in the rear, but that would be significantly more expensive. I like the look of a 315 tire, but I know that wont fit on the 18 x 9. Will a 295 fit??? Thanks for your input.

275X35 is the most you can go with a 18X9 wheel. That's what I was told when I bought mine so, thats what I went with.

I had 285/35's on my old stang with 18x9's, but they were Nittos which run a little narrower supposedly......

285s fit. Even bfgs which run wider than nittos. Dunno about the nitto 305s though... that seems like it'd be a bit much...

i have 18x9's on my '00 GT and i have 285/35/18 all the way around. i was told that is as big as you can fit on an 18x9 rim and the biggest size you can have for the tires not to rub

Thanks for all of your replies. I was thinking of a 255/40 on the front with the widest possible on the rear. I want to get BFG Radials, so that eliminates the 305. I was hoping for a 295, but I guess that is too wide. I guess I will go with the 285s. Thanks again for all of your replies.

I wouldnt get 255 on the front. Theyll be pretty small and youll risk damaging the rim. My 265s are quite small enough, and I could actually use the all the front end traction I can get. Going 275 next time. Pics in sig...

Go for the 10.5s I love mine. They look awesome from the rear and really fill out the well.

get 285/35/18.. its only .3 inches taller than stock and it will look like it fits the rim well. no bulging which hurts handling characteristics... 295/35/18 is half an inch taller than stock (which will effect the speedometer) and will bulge on a 9" rim. I've seen a BFG 295 bulge on a 10" rim.
Not flaming anyone, but why buy a nitto 295 or 305 because they run thin.. its just gonna look like a size down, or 285 which will still fit the car better.

that being said- 265/35/18 front (which i run in front)
and 285/35/18 rear
