Just wanted to let you all know to avoid doing business with these clowns. I bought a 302 short block from them over a year ago. They sent me a 289 block, but I said oh well it has a 302 crank even though the block is weaker. On break in three lobes flattened out on the cam and after about a two month turn around they sent me a new cam. I had to buy my own gaskets and a new timing chain because they sent me a different style cam than the enginge came with. Well, back up and running I get 50 miles on it and it begins knocking. After tear down three cylinders and pistons a severely worn and the other 5 look like new.

The local machine shop says there was not enough clearance on those cylinders and that is why the damage from friction. Larry's has heehawed around and told me to email pictures which I have done twice. When I call they say they haven't gotten the pics. They don't return calls or answer emails. I am out about $1,400.00 and don't even have a useable block.

Just be warned.

Not to get too crazy, but one post by a new member sounds a little fishy. You can't just bash because you are angry. You should have started out this thread by askng if any one here has had a past problem with them first and then bring up your issue.

Same thing with you hivewax. We have to know a little more before destroying this guys business.

I 'm not trying to stand up for them, but...If it has a 302 crank, I would call it a 302 shortblock. Just like I would call a 331, a 331 even if it were in a 289 block. The 289's are known to be stronger, but not by much. And rounding off a cam on break in isn't really their fault either. You did the break in, not them. Did you add any extra lube for the stuff that's been taken out of the oil lately like zinc and such ? Cams get rounded off all the time by pros. It's more EPA's fault than yours or theirs.Like I said, not standing up for them. But it does seem like the first two aren't really their fault. Come to think about it, did you change the oil and flush the system after the cam was rounded off ? That could ruin some stuff will all that metal floating around in there.
