I'm starting to hear a noise when I get to slow speeds and (although I haven't paid enough attention to see if it does it other times) when I am applying the brakes. I think it is time for new front brake pads. We've had this car for about 8 years or so now and have never had to replace the front brakes yet so it would make sense that it is about time.

So my question lies here:

In late model cars (i.e. made after July of their model year) sometimes they use parts that are intended for the next year's model. I had this happen to me when I replaced my filler neck grommet (and wrote about it on here) and bought a 1998 part that didn't fit but the 1999 part did. So my question is, so that I don't have to run to the parts store twice, can anyone tell me if the front brakes to a late 1998 Mustang are the same as the 1998's or if I should purchase 1999's brakes? I looked on AutoZone's site and saw that the pads are indeed different models so thus why I am asking.

Thank you in advance!

P.S. All I need are the brake pads to my knowledge.
