The 4.10's go in tomorrow, and I got gift certs to spend, and I am not a saver, haha. Am definately getting MM SFC's, and trying to decide what to do with the balance... Not sure whether to do some appearance (chin spoiler, which I've wanted for awhile, and white faced guages - which I'm a little worried about trying to install or maybe FR500 steering wheel) or possibly LCA's, which put me a little over-budget, but may do anyway. I don't really know anything about LCA's, so am wondering, if I go this route, does it need to be MM, or is another brand just as good, and also, what will upgrading this do for me???

Or are there any other recommendations in the $160 to $200 range???

Do chin spoiler. My gauges were cheap and install is easy - dont sweat it. I thought Steeda pulleys were an absolute bargain (and they pay for themselves in saved gas). Another bargain mod, was my K&N mounted right on the MAF - no airbox - really cheap.
Oh yeah - SPRINGS. Makes your car look 10 times better and really improves handling. I'd definitely do that b4 changing the steering wheel!!!

What have you got to fix your speedo after the gears? I recommend SCT xcal2 (I hope to get one soon).

Thats crap from the new breed of stangers that havent tried them or are scared of trying them. The "plenum generation" if you will. Back in the day, pulleys were proven over and over again with dynos and track times on these very boards. For those that remember, I thinking of when Bill Putnam actually frequented stangnet. San remembers I'm sure.

How can you argue with improved fuel economy (and about 7hp) for 150 bucks anyway - gas is crazy expensive these days.

In the beginning (of modifying), I thought I'd do pulley's right away, then just did other mods... I was just thinking that with the gears going in... and trying to get the car a little more suited for the track in the spring (for my first time)... that some suspension/traction mods might be in order... not arguing, cause I don't know enough... just trying to get info... your opinion is to increase hp as opposed to increasing traction at this point???

Well, since you are getting the 4.10s in, I would go with the LCA. You are going to need the help with traction. MM or Steeda are good choices to go with.

Thats $21.50 per HP
100 shot of Nitrous: (~$600) $6/HP

I never did them because
1. its $150
2. I will never notice 7hp (hell, my power output varies by upto 40HP depending on weather conditions)
3. $150 is 1/4 of a good nitrous setup
4. anyone with a V-8 and 4.10's doesn't care about fuel milage.

But I must admit, I do like seeing shiny things on a motor!

Do the chin spoiler and white face gauges. Add a bit of flare to the look of the car.

Agreed. I have witnessed quite a few 4.6 2V bolt on cars make an additional 10-15 RWHP with the just the addition of a complete underdrive pulley set. And the increased fuel economy is just an added plus.

I'm still up in the air... Not going to do anything for hp right now, I really think I should start thinking about suspension for this year's projects. I think I would definately get the lca's if the gift certs would cover it, but they don't, so I guess I'm just going to have to decide whether to stay in the budget and get the appearrance, or go over it and get the lca's. I guess what I should do is just wait til I get the car back from the shop and drive around with the new gears a little to see if I really think I need the lca's just yet...

I'd lower it before LCAs. Lowering makes a massive difference to handling, and makes your car look much better. LCAs rock, but you cant be driving a jacked up 4x4 stang. Heres a b4 vs after:

Dang. I breath a sign of relief every time I see the second pic. I cant believe stock springs looked that bad.

I know, it does look ridiculous, but I keep telling myself springs don't matter... performance matters... I'm so new at this, and think I always make the wrong choice, and thought the lca's were kind of going to be needed after the gears...

Nah. You dont actually need them but they are a good mod. Springs will really improve your cars handling. I consider them a performance mod.

steeda pulleys arent shiney anyways pal. and if u wana do the safe hp to $ ratio.. where u can buy u/d's for 100 bux almost anywhere u look.. thats 100 for 6-8 hp which is about 14.25 per hp, some torque, some off line the snap, faster revving beast, and saving gas mileage. sounds like a steal to me. after l/ts is said and done your looking at about 1000 (avg) for lt's and midpipe and 30 hp& tq(avg).. if u install yourself thats still $34 per and a pain in the ass. u could go all day and night thru the mods tho, just do what u want really, because in the long run none of this is n/a stuff is worth it. damn you kenne bell

oh and for lca's, pro3 makes some good ones that are around 200 and are every bit as good if not better than MM. (they told me their metal was stronger)

The shop that put the gears in today said lca's were a good idea, and I think I've decided to go with them. He said to get the Mac set of UCA's and LCA's for around $259... said it's a good product at a good price... any thoughts???

If you only want to handle well in a straight line, MAC's will be fine.

If you care about handling in a turn, take them off your list.

I refuse to buy any of that crap called MAC. I have seen too many of their suspension parts break. It is pure junk. I would get MM. They are built strong, have spherical bushings on the axle end and poly on the chasis end and eliminate binding of the axle and prevents axle movement. One of the best setups. You really dont need UCA's as the stockers are fine.

The car may have a tad bit more NVH from them but they are more of an improvement over the stock LCA's

A good set right here.
