LCA's any good?

as im doing suspension right now..im tryin to decide on which control arm to get..while spending the least i can..w/o sacrificing quality..how are these ones?? also..are upper control arms needed? if i got a good set of lca's, would uppers be necessary? thanks

Is this for street, drag, or road race use? The solid end could be harsh on a DD. The lowers make more of a difference than uppers. I have lowers with poly bushings on each end since its my DD.

well it says they have been used for cars with over 700 hp..so its probably street and track..how are yours with the poly bushings? im looking at getting some control arms..and although the mac ones dont seem popular..they look just the same and the price is right.

I have the MM drag arms. the are spherical bearing front and rear.

those arms are mild steel. I would not get them

I don't want to spend $300 on Global West or $260 on MM lowers, then more later for uppers. The stiffer arm will be so much better than stock arms. The polyurethane bushings will be so much better than the factory rubber bushings. I think I'll be happy with these without spending a whole lot of money on overkill.

you didnt go wrong with the UPRs..i have them and love them, they do transmit more road noise and some vibrations more than stock, but the added bite more than makes up for the minimal comfort decline.

I have also been looking at the UPR Products LCA's, but I'm not sure if I wanna go with UCA's as well.

Will you get the added vibrations/noise with just the LCA's or does that mainly come with UCA's?

how about getting just pro3 street/race lca's..they look pretty good

vibration would be dependant on bushing design.

I don't have any vibration issues just a bit of road noise and that is solid spherical bearings. the preformance is so much better than poly arms though.

I think the thing people don't often understand about control arms is uppers hurt your handling. poly bushings in your upper arms produce bind. If you get UPR uppers you car will not handle as well through the curves and just the right lower arm. there is a reason companies like MM, griggs, global west don't make uppers.

If you are not launching your car on slicks you don't need uppers. you will not get enough traction need that kind of control of the axle IMO.

Interesting... Can you explain more about the uppers and how they affect handling, ride comfort and launching?

You need to first decide what your goal is. If it's mainly drag racing (ie going in a straight line), poly bushings are fine.

However, if you want to corner and stuff, poly on both sides isn't the way to go. MM's site has some good reading on that topic, but you will basically get MORE bind in a corner with poly/hard bushings on both sides versus spherical/poly or even the stock rubber for that fact.

i went with upper and lowers because there just arent any curvy roads where i live...the roads are flat and straight, no need to have a super handler when the most corner carving i do is making right and left turns onto other roads
