So, my brother's '89 GT w/156k on it decided to start leaking at the thermostat housing last week. We got a new elbow, gasket, thermostat, and new upper and lower radiator hoses from 50resto. Got it changed out yesterday, and well.....it's still leaking. We got all of the old gasket scraped off, sanded the elbow where it meets the gasket (it's chrome, was told to sand by a few other people I know that have bought the chrome ones). We got it tightened down fine. So, what to do next? Is there a sealant we can use to take care of it? Motor is due for replacement this summer, just need to keep it going until then.

the chrome thermostat housings are known for leaking. what usually happens is the gasket serface gets warped when you torque it. To verify this is your problem lay the housing (gasket surface down) on a flat surface to see if it is warped.
