Lets discuss stall speed Calling all AOD guys

So how exactly does the stall speed relate to everything?? I plan on running a 99% street car.

I have a 2400 B&M hole shot.

Is this OK on a 383? I havent changed my gear ratio yet so if possible ill get a gear to compliment the Converter but im not sure how that works.

I still am yet to have Ed Curtis to grind a cam and i hear that the cam plays a role in this as well.

So without me buying a $500 new converter is there anyway i can make the 2400 work with the right rear gearing???

TQ converters are like Chinese to me. I know that when i had this 2400 in my H/C/I 302 with 373 gears it pulled like hell.

Oh i know this is 94/95 talk but i do not use a AODE....I have a Built AOD (pre94) With a manual valve body.

Please someone shed light onto the subject so i can get the correct Cam/ Converter/ Gear selection.

BlackVert I'm actually about to put the gears in soon. I have them in a box with new 31 spline axles. The car seems kinda sluggish probably because i have stock gears in there now. I had this same motor with 3.73 gears in another car and it screamed. I guess it doesn't like those stock 2.73's

Hey inphiniti man how have you been? Are you still in the Providence area? Basically a 383 is identical to a 408 except with a 3.75" crank instead of a 4.00"
