ANNNNNND.. My 4X4 is running larger tires, an EAOD (4 speed) , etc. all of which factor into the equation. The 4X4 is set up to pull my travel trailer and also take advantage of the greater torque of the 460.
When buying this truck I could have opted for 4.10:1, or others, but chose the "taller" 3:55's to reduce RPM's and give better fuel economy. The engine is plenty "torquey" to handle it.
Truck or car, the ratio consideraions are the same. Choose the gears to suit the situation. I understand ratios and hope that others do to.
Aren't words FUN?
