having trouble trying to figure out a converter to run. there will be some sort of power adder in the future but not at the moment. i have a set of p heads for it and gonna cam it.

right now theres 3.27 gears in it. i have 3.55 and 3.73 sitting the shelf and was possibly thinking buying 4.10

i was thinking like a 3k stall or a 2500. one guy at a trans place told me to go with a 4k stall but i think thats too much

how do i tell if i have a non lock up or a lock up?

lock up...

answer the power adder question first then pick a cam to go with the power adder then worry about the converter. if not you'll end up with **** not working well together

Converters are kind of like cams. You can ask on the internet and get 100 different answers, and some may be right for your application and some may not. OR, you can just talk to a pro converter guy, and he'll steer you in the right direction, and probably even supply you with the converter you need.

I'm going with the tfs1 cam for sure. Boost might be turbo or a supercharger, haven't decided the best route on that subject yet. They list as 12,10,8 in converters why r they different sizes.

You need to talk to a pro. Two converters for the same tranny with the same stall speed can be completely different. A street type converter will usually gradually increase in pressure until the stall speed. A race type it's like you are in neutral until you get to the stall speed and it's like you dropped the clutch. Well maybe not quite like that but you get the idea.

The cool thing about a lockup is that you can go really agressive but still retain stock like higher speed cruising.

If you check out the website of some of the converter companies, they have places where you can email their application specialists. I did that with precision industries, emailed them my combo and all the info they asked for and I got an email back after a couple of days.
Not sure where you are located, but there is a local guy here in Cincinnati that builds pretty good converters at a good price. I ended up buying mine from him. I havent installed it yet, so I have no personal feedback, but a lot of guys on our local stang site use his products.
