Lets Talk Headers

I just put Ford Racing ceramics shorties on this weekend. I drove 14 miles so I could use a lift and we took the temp with a temp gun as soon as I got there, it was 532 on the drivers side and 544 on the passengers side. Opened the hood and placed a fan on top, put car in the air, placed a fan under blowing out the door and left it this way for three hours. Three hours later we were done so I took it for a ride (a little better than 12 miles) and we took the temps again, 294 on the drivers side and 292 on the passengers side.

So I'd have to say the ceramics coating is worth the extra money if anyone is looking to lower under the hood temps.

Ah hah my canadian friend, aside from them being shorties, I just happened to install JBA titanium headers a week or so ago, I took off bbk chrome shorties and I had it dyno'd with them on, I will be getting redyno'd in two weeks, I have changed nothing since the first dyno, (accept breaks, and I hallowed out the cats). But fret not, I also have a brand spanking new bassani X pipe with cats that I will be installing before the dyno run, so my data will be exactly the same save for the headers..... I will keep everyone posted...... Ohh and on a side note, the heat from the headers during the dyno run went from 275* (idle) to 680* at WOT high rpm's. I did a heat test because I was testing a theory on a/f ratio and exhaust temps, Grady you would find that test kinda interesting.

And who says only canadians are crazy......:flag:

niiiice...let us know..

P.S. do you still want that shift knob?

no worries just thought I'd post something somewhat useful before I begin filling up the tech forums with noob questions. Hopefully a 94-95 will be in my driveway soon.
