So i am installing my Auto Meter Electric water temp Gauge next week.... but i am still undecided on where to mount the damn sensor. I have been reading on every damn Forum on the different mounting locations. I really dont care where it needs to be mounted, i Just want the best Reading Possible.

So Guys, where do you guys think the best place to have the Water Temp sensor Mounted? Where do you Guys have Yours Mounted? I have read alot and narrowed it down to these locations.

1. Coolant Plug on Side of Block (Heard This Give Bad Readings Due to Heat)
2. Tap the Thermostat Housing
3. Auto Meter Heater Hose Tap
4. Autometer Radiator Tap

what do you guys suggest?

I have mine mounted on the side of the block, it does read a little high, usually about 200 degrees but it is reliable in the sense that it is always off by the same amount. I figure the real temperature is about 195. I like the block location because it is the most aesthetically appealing, you cant even see it unless you really look for it.

The block drain location doesn't give a bad reading it is just going to be higher than other locations unless you modify your colling system. If anything it is better to know the highest reading since that is the area that is usually going to fail first. The rear drivers side pistons.

the block location is pretty easy too, takes 10 minutes to get the drain plug out and screw the temp sender in...the only hard part is getting your socket to reach up there
