the front of my stang sits 3/4in high then the ass end. ive seen a website of a guy putting a 3/4in cylinder like piece of steal under the caster plates to lower the front 3/4in to level the car, i cant rememeber the site. but is there anything else i would need to do b-4 i do this, would i need to get a alignment?

Seems to me like that would work, since it would compress the spring down more than it normally would. The reason your back is lower is because of the crappy 'over the wheel' weight that the GTs have, which gives them the characteristic ass drag. You could problably get some drag springs in the back and fix the problem too.

well i dont want to raise the ass, i like it lowered. would i need a new alignment if i lowered the front? the "ass drag" was for weight transfer right...? what will happin to the ratio with it even?

No, the ass drag was just because the stock springs aren't up to the power and weight transfer that the car produces, combined with the weight of the glass hatch and the rest of the car. It's probably a good idea to check the alignment if you lower the front.

You state that you have a 2" drop in your sig, how did it get that drop, naturally over time? Have your springs been changed?

Anyway, spacing up the CC plates is prolly a real bad idea, unless you have some aftermarket ones. It will not lower your car either, unless you have coilover springs. In that case you would be moving the upper spring perch up too. All it will really do its give your strut some more bump travel, causing it to bottom out less, really a must for lowered cars. I have been driving my car lowered for 3+ years, its nice to have it back up where it belongs. Ride is much less harsh. JMO

i took the 2in drop off my 95 cobra b4 i sold it, there h&r lowering springs. when the springs where swapped i had an alignment already. im thinking of getting a fiberglass hatch and lexon glass, think this would help the ass from looking low?

The hatch and lexon would definately help, but may not solve the problem. Were the back springs used when you put'em on? Do you still have stock shocks in the back?

the springs were only on the cobra for about 5 months, b4 they were switched to mine. when they where switch i put new horizontal and vertical shocks on the back.(dont know what the other shocks that go horizontal are called) there like 4 other foxs around my town and they all have the "ass drag" so i figure its a fox thing...lol...thanx guys

The newer foxes are heavier and that may explain the front sitting higher on the lighter '88 nose. I'd consider taking the rubber isolater out of the front spring perches and trying that. The spacers you are talking about are for putting 460's in the car and having it look somewhat stock, not nose down with a big carb sticking out the hood.

Over wheel drag of the GT? That bumper is the same as the LX, only a different cover which is probally just a few lbs. Anyways a few lbs won't make that much difference. I have the front sitting too high because of all the weight reductions and the battery in the hatch/trunk. I know that most springs are set up to stock weights, so in the near future I'm going all out with coil overs.

I think the reason the rear of the Mustang is so high is beacause the max cargo weight is about 500lbs

The sticker on my right passenger door jamb says "luggage capacity-500lbs"

So if it were level from the factory, the rear end would be too low for proper handling with the stock springs

And yes you do have to realign car after lowering the rear and NOT the front

My car is over 2" inches low all around so passengers in the rear is a NO-GO!
Doesn't matter to me,haven't had passenders in the back in years!

you dont have to get an alignment after just lowering the rear... this has no effect on the steering geometry at all. also you cant "align" the rear wheels of RWD vehicles, only FWD. i actually just had my car aligned today after doing springs and c/c plates.

also taking out the spring isolators would be a pretty bad idea. im almost positive that it would make a really annoying sound and probably not lower the car seeing as though the insulator is about what, maybe 0.5cm thick? just lower your car the right way because you're probably going to have to do it down the road. just do it right the first time around

"also you cant "align" the rear wheels of RWD vehicles, only FWD"

this isnt true at all.....my 95 cobra was lowered after a year of driving with out having an alignment, the inner tire of both the front and back tires was showing the steel belts and i had to spend $120 for all 4 wheels to be aligned. i dont c how the back had to be aligned cuz it was a straight axle but it did.

OOOHHH
Look at the JC Whitney catalog.
In their suspension section they have something that you might be interested in.
Really give them a try.
They are in the Bushings/springs/drop kit misc section.
Hard to explain what they look like but they fit between the spring coils to compress the spring up to 1 inch.
I had those things in the rear until I finally lowerd the car with BBK springs
It takes 2 of those things per spring

Oh yeah If I'm way off the subject again just IGNORE me and do NOT BE RUDE.

i JUST got my car aligned today. this is what the shop told me when i asked about a 4 wheel alignment. they said only front wheel drive vehicles can have 4 wheel alignments done and RWD can only have two. i dunno if he was feeding me a line of BS or what, but they're the best place around to get your car aligned...
