Liability insurance

Hey guys,

My car is now up and running strong after switching out the alternator. Now I just need to get a few new gaskets on the transmission pan and power steering units as well as get some front end work.

However, I want to be able to drive this car to a shop to get the front end work done, as opposed to spending $100 to get it towed.

Is there any cheap classic car insurance out there? I found one online that had a premium of about $65 for the year, which is amazing, but I don't qualify for that one because I do not have 10 years on my driving record. Are there any other companies out there which do not require that? What do you guys use?

I used same insurance company

as my daily drivers, was $32 every 6 months. Try that.

I'm thru Anpac right now and they are a good company. But I have all my stuff thru them. (Car, boat, house etc etc)

They actually have some pretty good rates and the plus is if you stay clean you get 25% back on your 4th yr of your first yrs rate. Keeps going every yr you stay clean.

Otherwise you have hagerty or colonial insurance. Ive used both in the past also.

I went through a local broker(Barlow Insurance), have my car insured for $55,000 stated value for $388 a year with 4,000 miles a year limit.

If you're looking for insurance to cover a daily driver neither of these companies is going to be what you are looking for.

Haggerty will limit the miles you can drive a year to 5k or less with very few restrictions on usage.

Grundy's doesn't give a mileage restriction but you can only drive the car to car relatated activities such as club meetings, shows, etc.... If you want to go to the store to pick up a gallon of milk or cruise over to a friends house you aren't covered.

Good info.

It looks like I will be going with Hagerty for a number of reasons.

#1) They do not have an age limit
#2) The reported value has to only be $3500.

AAA's minimum was $6000, and although my car may be worth that when assembled, it is currently in disarray.

#3) The premium looks like it will only be about $100/year. That's pretty damn good.

Oh, btw, it will definitely not be a daily driver. 1000 miles/year on this, tops. I have an Acura for my everyday driving.

Just wanted to add, anpac doesnt have any limitation on mileage and I insured my 64 Linc for 6k with no issues. Not sure what their bottom $ is but they do want a car on those policies that are 75% complete I believe.
