License Plate Mounting???

How do you guys mount your front license plates without damaging the front bumper? I tried Velcro worked great for a year till the weather got to it and it fell off on the road. Anyways anytips would be fantastic. I live in Missouri by the way and they really enforce the front plate.

i dont think there is a way to mount the front plate without drilling hole in your bumper. you can try the Xtreme velcro. i have used that in stereo installations like putting the crossovers inside my doors and that stuff works great. i would actually be more worried that it would pull the paint off the bumper when you actually wanted to remove it.

I finally bit the bullet and drilled holes for my front license plate after 3 1/2 years without one. On the very day I was gonna drill the holes I got pulled over by a cop for no front license plate. I told him that was on my list of things to do for the day, and he let me go. So now I've got an ugly front plate now.

Don't start drilling just yet. I saw a bolt on kit in a thread, not sure, but I think it was on stangnet. The guy custom makes them and you don't have to do any permanent modifications so it is easily removed. I will see if I can find the thread, may take me some time though.

i was at a car show and saw a cobra and he had some bracket coming from behind the bumper, and it bent 90 degrees upward and made a mounting spot for the plate. . . didnt look like a custom job

I think I'll stop by the hardware store and rummage around for some L brackets. maybe fab up my own. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Maybe even a write up.

In Maryland the law is to have a front plate, mine started to warp and keep it straight I went with this, doesn't look half bad, IMO...

why not take the bumper off, and attach a magnet to the inside of the bumper to hold it in place? the plate is tin i realize buy you can stick a magnet to the back of the plate.

this idea was off the cuff, idk if this will actually work but if u can get a magnet strong enough...

I just drilled the holes.

I drilled two, and then lined the entire backside of the plate with doube stick tape so it wouldnt rub and damage the plate. Then when i go to car shows, i pull the plate off and use two plugs in the holes that are painted using touch-up paint. That way the holes are covered tastefully.

i was going to do the magnet thing, researched and found really strong (neosomething or other magnets that they used on mythbusters all the time) but they were kinda expensive.

i was gonna epoxy them to the inside of the bumper and then make a mounting bracket for the plate (just some flat stock) attach the other magnets to it and then cover with felt

but the fold out plate that i posted costs roughly the same and you dont have to fab anything or pull the bumper off. screw it in and ur done. and when you dont want the plate out u can hide it away

Well I just got back from the hardware store. Spend $6.83 for some L brackets and some nuts and bolts. Here is a pic. Im thinking of putting an Inch spacer where it screws into the bumper because the plate extends over the crease on the front bumper and looks tacky. Yes it is a crappy pic because of my Razrs phone.

im gunna try my magnet idea,good thing is its not going to cost me anything because i work for a place that manufactures dump trucks and we get these super strong magnets that come with our hydraulic tanks to collect any metal shavings that may be in the tank.gunnu glue 2 to the back side of the bumper and 2 to the plate,wrap the back of the plate in a nice felt or gasket material so it doesnt scratch the bumper and hope for the best.let ya know how it goes.

just make sure the magnet isnt strong/big enough that it is going to warp the bumper or the license plate
