Hey guys. I need to lift my engine up off the k member becuase i am replacing the oil pan with a mmr 7 qt unit and swapping out the k member with the qa1 kit. i was just wondering where the factory/best lift points were on the motor because i am going to have to support it with a cherry picker/fork truck.

Factory engine lifting points Webbing/heads

There are two factory ways to lift a modular engine.

One is the center webbing between the cylinders valley (where the alternator sets). There are points in the front and rear. The bolt size is M8. However the rear points are useless with the engine in the car.

The other lift point is the cylinder heads. There are two bolt holes on each head to attach lifting brackets. The holes are rear right and front left. The holes are difficult to see unless you are looking for them.

The bolts holes are different sizes for Romeo and Windsor heads. Either a M12 or M14. While I am not positive, the Windsor is M14, the Romeo is M12.

Now onto the problems. The bolts on the rear right hand will be hard to start from the AC lines. The next issue is Ford would have you use a special lifting bracket which is very $$. If no lifting bracket is used, take care not to crush the valve covers.
