Lifters (Help)

if you are replacing your lash adjusters remember when you are starting her for the first time you need to rev the motor from 1500-2500 rpms for 15min to get them pumped up. I have done this many a times, here are some tips:

1 swivel socket adapters are awesome for valve cover removal

2 if you have a 5 speed, disconnect the clutch cable- it makes taking that valve cover off easyier

3 if you are replacing the valve cover gaskets get the OEMS, the fel pros SUCK

4 remove spark plugs to aid in turning over the motor by hand

5 make sure the followers [lash adjusters] cam caps (if applicable] go back in the same place and orientation

6 take your time man, you can do it :)

you mean completely remove the spark plugs or just the packs that go over them?? ive already got part 1 and 2 done and i planned on 3. so that puts me at 4. im gonna do them one at a time cause im not sure which one it is yet. but im just gonna get like new one and just start from the back and work to the front. put the new one on and if its still there then take it off and move to the next.

having the spark plugs out will allow the air in the cylinders to escape, bypassing the compression and thus making it easier to hand-crank the engine.

Noise under the Hood

Hey Guys, i have a question to ask. i have a built 2001 Mustang GT. My car drives great but every time i drive the car, 20 to 30 min later there is a rattle noise every time i hit the gas, so i have to drive in 3rd gear really slow until i get home. i am not to familiar with lifter noise, etc. i have racing cams. If anyone could help me that would be great, i live in spring hill, Florida. I Took the driver side valve cover off and the lifters are right there, they seem fine to me but like i said, maybe i can not tell by looking at them
