Alright, so I was unlocking my car the other night when I saw the lights come on and the little light came on in my head. All those new fancy car lights fade on and off when the doors open and close and such, so why not have the Stang do it? I know the basics of wiring and soldering but have no idea where I'd look to do something like that, but I'm thinking throwing in a capacitor somewhere would probably be all that it needs, but the question is where! I think this would be a nice and subtle mod to do! While looking for this I ran across this site and found in the 4.6L section they were talking about cluster and HVAC light conversions that I will probably end up doing, but was thinking about what you guys thought. Thanks!

I'm confussed, my dome light does come on and then go off by it self. Which lights are you talking about?

My 82 280ZX did that where the lights faded off. I really don't care much about it since the only lights that come on in a vert is the ones on the rear view mirror. But post a good write up when you get it done!

Yeah, they do go on and off by themselves I just want them to kinda dim on and off rather than just come on and off suddenly, kinda like in the Bimmers and stuff, just a subtle visual mod, only problem is I don't know where to look or even where to start! Can anyone point me in the direction of a wiring diagram I might be able to use or does anyone know where I'd find this magical wire where I can do this? Thanks!

OK I see what you mean now. I would start at the fuse block then. Other than that I have no idea but good luck on it. You might ask at 3.8 forum, I'm pretty sure some one there will know.

Lots of Fords do that too. Two Probes I owned both did that. It's done with a small microprocessor somewhere in the light circuit. You could probably add it to the Mustang if you really wanted to, but it would be a lot of work.

Anyone know if the SN197s do that?

its a small module about the size of a cigarette pack..its called a lighting module
its more of a pain in the ass then to serve a purpose.. are you just day dreaming?
if your not willing to spend at least 50.00 bucks then dont waste your time with the small stuff.. im sure you could find something to do to your car that would have more of an advantage then dimmed lighting.... when you get out to walk away your not even looking in that direction...why bother? or are you going to sit and wait till it turns off everynight...lol...you want to be different take that spinning disco ball out of your bedroom and attach it to your dome light..only then would you see people giving you the thumbs up cause you got something different..what are you waiting for? go cut some ***** up!

dont get mad take it as it was... a joke.

Haha, no worries I don't mind, I just thought it would be an easy little mod. Maybe when I start tearing into things I look into it more seriously, but I was just gauging this and seeing if it had been done before. Thanks for all the replies!
